The district plaza de la revolution counts with emblematic highlights of our history and traditions: the university of havana, the revolution square, the palace of the revolution, the offices of the central committee and the states council, la rampa street, the cemetery christopher columbus, the malecón see front promenade, the anti-imperialist tribune, among others. it is one of the most important districts of the capital, a residential area where main ministries and hotels are located.
You can also enjoy daily excursions departing from different hotels to more distant places from havana as the beautiful varadero beach, viñales valley and others.
Located in a residential neighborhood surrounded by houses, in a quiet street with poor traffic, a few minutes walk from various shops and supermarkets known as trd (a local brand), some private cafes and the revolution square where the memorial josé martí (cuba´s national hero) is located.
With a height of 112,75 the monument devoted to josé martí is the highest point of havana city. it has a total diameter of 78,50 meters. the pyramid, about 28 meters wide, has an interior elevator 90 meters long and a staircase of 579 steps
From its balconies, in days of great visibility, you can see the havana landscape at a distance of about 60 kilometers.
To reach the top of the monument complex you can use an elevator or a staircase of 567 steps. the statue of josé martí consists of 52 marble blocks and has a height of 18 meters.
At the revolution square itself you can visit the national theater of cuba that offers a wide variety of shows, also the “café cantante mi habana”, located beneath the theater itself, which offers live “salsa” music and dancing. likewise, the piano bar “delirio habanero” is a luxurious room installed on the top floor of the theater that offers live music.
From this square you can access the double-decker tourist bus and the old american classic cars that still circulate in cuba for a tour throughout havana.
About 20 minutes walk from the hostal, you can reach the latinoamericano stadium. a multipurpose stadium. known as el coloso del cerro and el latino, with capacity for 55,000 spectators, it was inaugurated in 1946 as grand stadium of havana, from the very beginning it became the most important stage of the country where you can enjoy good basebal games, cuba´s national sport.
A little more distant about 7 kms walk, but about 5 minutes by car, it is the hotel melia cohiba, habana café, the jazz café and several restaurants and paladares (private owned restaurants) where you can enjoy cuban music as well as international and local food .
Just 15 minutes by car you can get the historic center of old havana and explore on foot all sites.Malecón Habanero
